Hopefully its a seamless integration into their Music program. As long as the integration with Roon remains, or improves I'll be happy.

I don't see anything good coming from it. Consolidation and monopolization. Fewer choices in service.

I agree nothing good could come from this. Apple with their big bank account could very well wipe out Tidal all together, just because it's there.

After reading about Apple deleting local files with their Apple Music subscription, I certainly hope they avoid that feature with Tidal!

My experience with Apple Music seems to be different than many. I had about 1000 CDs on my HD in iTunes at full resolution when I decided to join Apple Music. The service looked at my library and replicated the music it recognized into the cloud. Never touched my existing files. I ultimately decided Tidal was the way to go without Roon but am cautiously optimistic about the purchase as Apple may allow me to use my library on more portable devices (Tidal limits you to 3).

The real rumor-and one that makes immensely more sense (and this comes from an industry insider) is that Apple is extremely interested in MQA. Yes Apple talked to Tidal. Doing their due diligence as any company might. But watch out for MQA. You heard it hear first.

Yeah, but Tidal and MQA are meant for each other and if someone could acquire both it would be a goldmine, err, I mean it would generate a strong cash flow.

What would Apple gain from acquiring Tidal? Don't they already to have access to the titles? They would have to get MQA encoded files either way. Unless I am missing something.

Well they would get access to the tech platform for hires, streaming and an already primed customer base.

Assuming the Meridian wants to sell MQA.
After they sold MLP to Dolby, MQA offers Meridian another chance to get regular licensing royalty revenues once again.

Either way, a non event here. Still unimpressed by the sound of MQA.

A billion from Apple might change their minds.
