    Conrad-Johnson Announces New Anniversary Amplifiers

2017 marks the 40th anniversary of conrad-johnson design inc. and to celebrate, we are introducing two new anniversary tube amplifiers – the ART150 and ART300. These amplifiers employ the recently developed KT150 output tubes. A single pair of KT150s produces 150 Watts per channel in the ART150 stereo amplifier, while two pair produce 300 Watts in the ART300 mono-block.

In addition to utilizing the KT150 output tubes, the ART150 and ART300 feature new input and inverter stages using 6922s for voltage gain, main power supply reservoirs boasting a more than ten-fold increase in total capacitance compared to our earlier ART mono-blocks and ARTSA amplifiers, and a new regulator circuit for the input stage power supply.

The ART150 and ART300 boast dramatic new styling, yet clearly show their conrad-johnson heritage. The output tubes are showcased behind a clear window spanning the full width of the protective tube cage, while the input tubes are enshrouded in a clear protective block.

ART150s are expected to be available for delivery by mid-May, with ART300s to follow a few weeks after. As with earlier anniversary products, production will be limited to 250 units of the ART150 and 125 pairs of the ART300. Projected US suggested retail prices are $18,500 for the ART150 and $18,000 each for the ART300s. A new price sheet showing these new amplifiers is attached.

These new models will replace the now discontinued ARTSA and ART mono-blocks.

    Awesome news

    @MylesBAstor

When are you getting a pair? We need to know how they sound vs the ART amps. Are they designed to drive low impedance speakers better?

I like the fact that only 8 kt150's need to be bought per set of monoblocks vs the current 16.

Not familiar with the sound of the KT150 tubes. How do they compare to KT120's on the ART's?

cj is always conservative and sure they wanted to see the KT150s were really reliable. Bill and Lew feel the one thing above all that turns off potential tube equipment customers is reliability issues.

CJ's look is as unmistakable and as iconic as the kidney grill on a Bimmer or the three pointed star on a Merc

I was also looking back at an old email from Lew and one reason cj was slow to adopt the KT150 tube was they wanted to make sure tube was here to stay. Or as Lew said they, "didn't want to leave customers high and dry."

Aesthetic wise this is a step back from the previous ART amp series. Beauty of course is in the eye of beholder, but for me this is a disappointment. On the other hand, I'm sure it will sound great with KT150's and I'm glad that the number of output tubes is reduced by 50%.

the gold angles cage on the ART is stunning.

perhaps if they got rid of the ugly perforated black tube cage and made it all see through acrylic or the back of the cage cj Gold colour?

            We NEED more GOLD

ha ha, Do I remember these beauties - I own them brought up to date with all teflon caps, they sound magnificent.

IMO, naked, one of the most beautiful amps of all time. ......................with the black cage - pig ugly.

You could run the ART without tube cages. Or take the plastic top off the input tubes.

Myles. The ART looks infinitely better with the gold cage.

Why doesn't cj have the gold top panel like on the prem 8a's rather than the drab black? Cost?

It looks like a pair of the ART300s may be on their way for review in late June or July. The smaller amp will go into production first.
