  • Hi from Andy

    Hi there

im new to this forum, but ive been into the audio hobby for a long time now.

I live in Harvard Mass with my wife and 6 yr old. Im fortunate to have a dedicated space in the basement - reasonable proportions, but with some challenges as well.

i listen to vinyl almost exclusively - mostly 20th C classical - Stravinsky, Prokofiev, Schoenberg etc and old jazz - a lot of it on Pablo.

ive been through my fair share of equipment of course, but im settling down now. My analog front end is a refurbished SP10 mk2 in a shot loaded marine ply base. The arm is an SME M2 12R, witb either a My Sonic Eminent GL, or a Decca Super Gold. Ive used a Herron VTPH for several years now. Previously was an Io.

Preamp is a Wyetech Opal feeding first version of the VTL MB450, driving Soundlab M1 PX, in a nearfield set up.

As i said, its mostly secomd jand, only the Herron was bought new. Cables are either Synergistic or Shunyata.

Anyway thats it for a brief intro - thabk you for having me, and looking forward to taking part,

    cheers

    Andy

Andy, nice rig you have. Im esp fond of your Soundlabs, I had A-3s back in the day and the only tube amps at the time that could really drive them were VTL Ichibans, the MB450 came later and im sure does them justice. welcome aboard!

Andy, welcome. I've been a Keith Herron devotee for more than 25 years, having had the VTPH-1 and more recently moving up to the VTPH-2A. I've had his preamps for all that time also, currently with his 360.

BTW, I spent a lot of time around Harvard 50+ years ago, doing observations on the 61" telescope at the renamed Oak Ridge Observatory for my undergrad thesis, in 1966 and 1967. It was a beautiful, pretty rural area back then, maybe 45 minutes drive from Cambridge.
