  • Hello from South Australia

G'day all, I'm Anthony from the Adelaide Hills. I only became aware of this forum as a result of an email this morning from Myles asking about the record bag I developed last year.

I've been into music as long as I can remember, and into the "means of delivery" for about 10 years. Here in AUS I have a veeery small business designing and building custom hifi racks/speaker stands etc and I'm currently investigating branching out and adding one or two more strings to my bow as well.

A card carrying format agnostic I'm perfectly happy with hard drive to DAC, CD or vinyl. Current system is generally older stuff- Pioneer PL-50L with Benz Wood SL, Graham Slee head amp and phono, Vimak DT-800 (back from a lengthy restoration in a day or so!!) plus TEAC UD-501, Bel Canto Pre2P, fully restored Yamaha B-1 and some Energy Veritas 2.8. This mostly resides in a constrained layer CNC machined rack of my own design in our family lounge room, though in the near future a 7x4.5 metre music room will be built all for me!!

My music tastes are extremely broad encompassing classical, metal, prog, jazz, electronica, hip hop, rock and much more in between.

I also have a very clean Yamaha B-2 waiting to go away for a little overhaul. Vfets are truly works of art....

Is there a section where that sort of thing should go? I am a little hesitant as it seems a bit self congratulatory.

You should ask Myles it is his site but you are in OZ you need to talk loud to be heard in the USA where they think you are a small island with funny animals .
My opinion tell the truth and show them what you have and do and why it is done that way and people will be interested. IMO

Very cool. There was something like this when I lived in the Bronx. Great Concerts in Mansion series. Some very wealthy people up there and they would host people to hear music in their homes once a month. Some amazing places.

"Mansion" and "very wealthy" don't describe me and mine well, but the little concerts are wonderful and it's a privilege to be a host!

Hi Rob, I'm not sure of the etiquette of running my small business publicly via Audionirvana so at this tage I'll err on the sideof caution. I did send you a message though. Thanks for the welcome too

Welcome aboard! Really like those Veritas 2.8 speakers. Hard to believe Stereophile reviewed them 24 years ago.

My son is moving to Melbourne in March. I see that is about 450 miles from Adelaide (about the distance from San Diego to Sacramento in California). After he and his fiance settle in, I'll ship his system to him. I'll need to find someone there to help set up his Music Hall 2.3 SE turntable for him.

Hi Steve and thanks! Were I in Melbourne I'd be happy to try and help, though there is a good sized and active stereonerd community there ( I know quite a few of them well). Tell him to get on to stereo.net.au and he'll find loads of like minded locals.

I love my big energys and yes it's hard to conceive that they are that old. The mids and highs are loooooovely!
