I am this guy from FB:
Thank you for this site Myles.
Anyway, I’m 63 and will never forget the first time that I heard separate components, instead of those console stereos that we were raised on. I was 15. It was at my neighborhood friend Darryl’s house. He had a Garrard SL-55 W Pickering Cart, an Eico tube amp and tuner with Allied speakers which he assembled along with the Eicos. That was GREAT GEAR back in that day. OMG! It struck a chord with my ears like nothing else.
That is until I heard Pete Van Campen’s stereo on the OTHER side of the block! He had a Garrard SL-95 with two big JBL floor speakers with a 12” and a horn in each box. A fisher preamp, and a BRUTE 70 power amp. THAT sent me on the course to find nirvana.
I have to get off my a$$ and finish my two Bohlender-Graebener 50” ribbons with a bunch of Eton 8” woofers.
That may just do it!
