Are you a real Doc or just play one on TV Interesting journey, what is it about nulcear physicists that attract them to this mad hobby. Sao Win was of that ilk, I had the pleasure (privilege?) of spending an afternoon in his lab talking shop. his audio products--if you can call them that--were way ahead of their time and employed a lot of out of the box ideas. "Heavy Metal anything can rob your signal" amen to that. there's so much 'trash metal' in your typical audio component (inferior RCA connectors/binding posts, wire, switches, contacts) that's in series with the signal, there's do doubt it has a deleterious effect on SQ.

I met Roy Johnson when he delivered a pair of Green Mountain Continuum 2 loudspeakers for me to review in the late 1990s (TAS #126 - Oct./Nov. 2000). He was a great guy and the speakers were very interesting with the ability to adjust the tweeter and midrange front to back in relation to each other and the woofer cabinet. The problem was he kept changing the recommended distance adjustment from the drivers to the listening spot. It was like reviewing a work in progress or a moving target. The reviewer who commented on my review liked the speakers more since I think he started off with the final adjustments.

I have the Mundorf silver with oil as my coupling caps. My cross-overs have Dueland resistors and Euro Oil caps. Dueland has a magical wire, it is a four nines silver ribbon with a natural silk dielectric embedded with oil at high pressure. Your external cross-overs are probably degrading your signal, I would hard wire them in, if you have a way of doing that. The external cross-overs where a fad, which happens to seriously degrade your signal, when I hard wired my in, I could hardly believe the huge difference, which it made.
The wire and terminators, which connect the external cross-overs are probably severly hurting your signal. Manufacturers did not pay much attention to those wires and terminators.

        Welcome to the thunderdome.

Nothing wrong with the original flat black speaker enclosures that a sander and a couple cans of custom blended aerosol paint from House of Color (think of the best custom hotrod paint in any color you can dream of) won't fix. Or just go to a graphics place and have your favorite graphics/art printed to wrap the enclosures just like a bus.

As I stated, I went with an older version, which wraps the re-formulated marble in Cherry wood..

Dr ears I really do appreciate your comments. I emailed ps audio. They made them with arnie of infinity who made them at the time. Are you familiar with my speakers
after the cross overs on the outputs there is many feet of wire to drivers. There is many of them like 36 each side
I am tempted to change this wire as well.

Hi Dr.Ears! I am new on this site, as well, and also living in wonderful Colorado. Maybe we can get together sometime, either the golf course or for some fun listening of music. I just received my copy of the new MOFI Abraxas today.
