  • Turning 60 on Sunday

this weekend is my 60 birthday a mile stone for me. As my dad and only sibling were long gone before 57.
By my 50 birthday I had made up my mine it was close for me as such I did a many bucket list things
cars , girls , drugs wow I enjoyed them and some things not to be said here came true. I did continue to go to the gym 5 days a week 2 hour plus work outs. And doctors to test for all things
they all said they wished they had my health at the time since then after 55 I have not been so lucky
If I may pass on some advice always have yourself checked out very well always while life is finite letting
something happen due to ignorance is just that. I did not
but shit may happen anyway lol.

Happy Birthday on your 60th Al!

I'm very lucky insofar as family genetics (on both sides) indicate a rather long life. The vast majority have lived well into their eighties and even nineties. Despite my Mom having slowed down significantly and is showing some signs of memory loss, she's still very vibrant and active at 88. I sometimes think she's in better shape than I. I've kinda brutalised my body (maybe my mind as well) over the decades and really should take better care of myself.

Taking care is good going to doctors for preventive is a bigger key while not helping me in my situation.
      My
mom made till 96 she outlived two husbands a boy friend
all of her family both sides and my only sibling a healthy one till almost the end.
A fine good life but surrounded by loss
she could not deal with my brothers passing as he was sick a loss she did not choose to admit
thanks for the wishes best tpmyou as well.

Happy birthday Al! Sounds like you are dealing with something serious and I'm sorry to hear that. I hope that you have obtained multiple opinions from different doctors/specialists.

Congrats on 60th Birthday. Appreciate the advice. Even with crazy health care premiums, I still usually only go to the doctor when I fall down and go boom. Best wishes and good luck with your health going forward. Like your family, my father passed at the early age of 59.

Happy 60h. I did that 5 years ago. My parents are 87 and 89 and still living independently. I have always been physically active. I ran distance for 20 years and I have been a cyclist for 20 years although I'm riding a bit less the last year or so. You can't predict what your health will be. I had a friend who was a big bike rider. He was 80 and his mother was 100 and living indecently. I thought he would easily live until 100. But he got sick and passed away. Genes, fitness, body weight might be in your favor but you just never know. Go out and buy that expensive new piece of audio gear I say!

Have a wonderful birthday Al. I have surpassed my Father by 5 years and it sometimes makes me wonder how much longer for me. Your story gives me inspiration. I want to be around to watch my children and grandchildren grow. I will be 57 this year.

Happy Birthday Al! I pray you can manage around the health issues.

I was just talking with my wife this morning... my first tiny cheap stereo had a plastic turntable and a pair of super cheap speakers. I may have saved up but I'm sure it was less than $20.00 I was a kid living in a foster home sharing a bedroom with a brother. I was recalling listening to Uriah Heap (Demons & Wizards) and ELP (Pictures at an Exibition). Shit, that was 45 years ago.

This year will be my 60th as well. Blessed to be in good health but not as crazy fit as a couple years ago. Need to get back on my bike shitty weather makes we want to stay dry, warm, and safe. I've also gone back to university to earn another degree, hopefully to be a counselor therapist into my old age. Can't see ever being fully retired.
