And you think keeping your audio system up and running is hard?

Just when everything was going so smoothly, we had my worst nightmare. Our host server experienced an issue this morning and the site was down for a couple of hours. Apologies to anyone who was inconvenienced and I will work with our host to make sure that this doesn't happen again.

Good news is we're back online and go to town!

Even when on, it was very slow and I could not post - the message was that it could not fetch quoted text. It is still slower than other sites.
My opinions rely on listening mainly to acoustical, non amplified music. I do not care about electronic music or listening to rock at stadium levels, but I enjoy Mahler and Shostakovitch.

Hmmm, it's a little slower today after the server went down but otherwise the speed checks out fine. I find AN faster than other audio sites. Of course, I'm using the newest Toshiba Satellite 15 (?) laptop with around 220 down and 23 up on average. Oh and it has a 4K ultra HD screen too. Way cool.

I'm a babe in the woods when it comes to some of this stuff, but out of necessity, have learned as I have gone along. My site was slow, and the tech service I use did an analysis, and came up with a bunch of fixes that cost nothing- just tweaking stuff, as part of my monthly service fee. It may not be relevant to your site, since I use wordpress (but a different host). The tweaks, which took him less than a day to implement, made a big difference in loading time. The other thing is--and you may eventually get there, but if you are supporting photos uploaded to your site, it will eventually take up space. I'm sure others can give you better input than me, but just thought I'd share my hard-won knowledge. When I was in full time practice, I had 24/7 support for all the computers. Now, I am the chief IT guy- scary, huh?

Some members may have tried logging on today and were greeted by a blank screen. Yes, our hosting service's (also supplier of the BB software) cloud server took a dump with ours and countless numbers of their other customer's sites. I am going to have a talk with vbulletin next week (it appears their server was fine for the last year until the last three weeks) and if necessary, will have to find another, more reliable hosting service. What was disturbing for me and other users was the companies lack of forthrightness about the issues and what was going on. But I do have some real trepidation about migrating the site and things getting screwed up worse. But I will do my best to find a solution to the hosting problems.
