It's been a month now and everyone has had a chance to play with the forum software a bit.

How do people like the comment vs. the more traditional quote function for posting responses?

At first--and it might just be conditioning from the older versions--I wasn't a huge fan. But it's growing on me and see a lot of you are now using it. Seems to be a better way to keep a linear record of posts to a comment rather than responses are spread out over time in the thread.

I don't have an issue with it, but it is different. Deserves at least another month to gain more info on how people use comments.

I do like the Message Center as a way to keep track of conversation. Do comments cause notifications to the recipient?

Yes they do.

I find both useful. A comment is used when I have just a short statement or rejoinder. When I have several things to respond to throughout a thread I cut and quote the specific line or lines and write my response. In addition I find cutting and quoting only those lines I wish to reply to makes for a tidier and shorter post. I find this also helps clarify my thoughts so as to follow a train of thought and avoid a train wreck of thought.

I will throw my hat in the ring for the new features. Comments make it easier to reply and the like function is good when you want to say the same thing but someone beats you to it.

I do like the idea of comments as a way of keeping related ideas together. The problem I see with comments is that they cause notification to the recipient but they do not show up as a "new post" to anyone else. So when one searches for "new posts" one doesn't see the comments. I left a comment yesterday to check this out and noted that the comment seemed to be hard to find via search. Is there a way of making comments more visible without digging into every thread?

The comment function is nice. On a more general note I still find the page layout and search for new posts / activity stream functions to be less intuitive and less useful than those for other sites. It should be noted that I generally use an iPad for viewing audio-related Web sites; it may be different for those primarily using a traditional computer browser.

I like the comment feature as well and I've been using it quite a bit.
