Hadnt listened to this one in about a year so I gave it a spin this morning. Wow- this disc sounds fantastic, from Black Dog to Stairway all the way thru When the Levee Breaks, The recording is better than I remembered it. I also have the 2014 Atlantic remasters of this title, really need to do a shootout but the Classic is going to be hard to beat.

The original, Memphis Minnie version really rocks- I understand what the boys did to make it a Led Zeppelin song, but that original is pretty special.
JC- if you are talking about the recent reissues that Page was involved in on vinyl, I only had the first three albums as deluxe versions- I don't think it will take you long to reach a conclusion. I think those reissues- remastered from digital- are probably fine for a lot of people who want clean playing copies with some bass and clarity. I can't comment on IV, but if it is anything like the first three albums-redone- the sound was pretty sterile. Not that any of the Zeps are great recordings to begin with.... (And don't ask me how many different pressings I have of some of them, mainly LZ 1). The Classic 180 seems to be preferred over the 200 in large part due to QC issues, no?
