Since, I do not buy music for investment, I am one who believes in more being made available. If, the interest is there, press more. I have missed out on lps, due to limited numbers. I don't value an album by it's monetary value...although, I certainly do wish the price of admission wasn't so steep.

I don't have an issue with MOFI calling 2500 or 3000 copies a limited edition run. How do we define limited edition? There really isn't exact definition. Chad (as well as say CR in the past) normally runs off 2000 copies for a run, then maybe presses more. MOFI IIRC presses 5000 (or more) copies for a normal run. So certainly 3000 is much less than a normal run. For me, it's once the product is sold out, won't be making or pressing any more copies.

I don't have any issues with Limited Editions but, I do have an issue when they start off saying x amount of copies and then next thing you know they increase that number a bunch!!!

does that take away from your enjoyment of playing a great LP if they press more than advertised? your point really applies to retailers and from what i can tell some like Elusive disc have no problem hoarding them and later declaring a "warehouse find" sale at 50% above retail...I was born AT night NOT last night

To be fair, MOFI had no idea what kind of demand there would be for the albums coupled with the fact that this was the first time they've made an LP in this way and probably had no idea how many they could really press. We are only talking 20% more here too. I am sure they weighed all the issues and felt that supplying the albums and keeping their customers happy was the most important consideration.

In the early days of Mofi, they claimed "strictly limited editions" but when a popular title like DSOTM sold out, they would just press more to satisfy demand.

I don't care how many pressings there are as long as I can get one if I want one.

If I am on the fence regarding buying the item, it's good to be able to wait and get reviews prior to purchase. But with with small production runs, it can sell out if you wait.

Ultimately what really matters is which number of the pressing sequence by the stamper you get. If you get the first few pressings of a new stamper that is the best, the last few pressings are the worst. But there is no really good way to know unless they tell you.

My copy arrived early this afternoon. Fourth side is on the table now. As with the Santana release, very quiet vinyl. First impressions positive but listening through headphones as it records. Also distracted by the approaching severe thunder storm.

I received my copies of Bill Evans today. The first disc is slightly warped. I am disappointed. Looks like the folks at Music Direct need lessons from Chad on quality control.

Sunday at the VV is the other half of the same concert that gave us WFD. So if you liked WFD, it's a no brainer to add to your collection!

Also I don't know the condition of the Sunday at the VV master tapes, but the WFD aren't in great shape. So it might be the last time to get on vinyl from the master tape.

Is anyone but Joe and me having issues with warped Bill Evans UCD1 releases? I returned my copy and MOFI generously agreed to send two replacement discs. Both replacement discs were, however, just as dished with a nasty pinch edge warp as the first pair of discs. Absolutely unplayable on my VPI turntable with the outer rim clamp. Without the outer clamp (but using the center clamp) you can see the outer part of the record doesn’t contact the platter.

time to get an Orb record flattener...I know, you shoulnt have to with a premium priced product and I agree but its a great accessory nonetheless. my other thought is a UCD1 might be on the border--pressing weight-wise--in terms of the Orb being able to do its thing.
