File this under labels doing great reissues of rock, jazz and classical. Remastered by Bernie Grundman from the original analog master tape (when it exists) and definitely benefiting from Bernie's improved mastering chain!

These are just a few of my favorites of their many reissues. Not a whole lot of duds among all the albums ORG Music has released. Of all of them, the most surprising is the BS&T! Click image for larger version

Ying does a great job. I cant wait for the release of the Film Score Series with Charles Gerhardt conducting the NPO and engineered by none other than "Wilkie"

I'm with you on that! Also looking forward to these two pre-orders and the Vanessa Fernandez mentioned elsewhere. The Evans is a real sleeper! I only wish he was doing the Fantasy Film World of Bernard Herrmann. That's the best sounding one IMHO!

Something that I found curious. Chad is reissuing Ellington's Blues in Orbit on Columbia at 33 rpm while Ying did it a while back at 45 rpm. Both were cut by Bernie Grundman I assume from the same tape on the same system. Wonder what the differences will be?

Some of my favorite ORG/GN recordings:

Not a big DK fan, but really liked the sonics on this LP:

and one of my favorite female vocalists right now:

I don't have the original ORG reissue of Nevermind, but if it's equal or better than the DGC pressing with the ORG matrix info crossed out, that would be a stunner, too!

I think the Jacintha is Groove Note but done by Ying.

I bought here's to Ben when it first came out. I played it once and my recollection was that it was from the mic-down-throat school of recording (very popular with Asian 'philes for some weird reason). You can almost tell how much saliva was present I know its one of Allen faves, not mine.

Any soundtrack by Zimmer delivers. Gladiator was amazing. Johnny Hartman?? How many times have I been able to spring him on someone who's never heard of him. Love the look on their face as they listen and
they think "How could I never heard of this singer??" Dream of a voice.

Isn't Vanessa Fernandez as well? That's why I thought Jacintha was fair game as well.

I have the Speakers Corner reissue of this, which is lovely and will have to do as the ORG pressing is OOP.

Pic didn't come through. I was referring to Friday Night in San Francisco

Totally agree with Hartman. Never forget the first time I heard that recording. How can you not like that voice! Heavenly! Even the XRCD of that Impulse recording sounds amazing.

A special shout out for this 1959-59 Columbia recording featuring the baritone sax of Mulligan accompanied on trumpet by Art Farmer, bass by Bill Crow and drums by Alvin Bailey? Shame on me for not pointing out this spectacular Columbia jazz release. And shame on you if you don't have a copy in your collection! Simply stunning rendition of "News from Blueport!" If the pulse of "News from Blueport" doesn't capture you, there's something wrong with the system!

There are a bunch of ORG listings in the new TAS Super Disc List., both classical and informal - I think all reissues.

Also I heard part of the Vanessa Fernandez album (the new one with covers of LZ) at a friend's home. Very impressive sound. I even enjoyed the music. Groove Note is planning to issue it on tape at the end of the year. The first album is available now
