Mary Margaret O'Hara - Miss America - an all time fav. Suggest every music fan listen to it once even if it doesn't appeal!!! Michael Stipe described her as Canada's national treasure.
Rickie Lee Jones - Rickie Lee Jones, Traffic From Paradise, Ghostyhead
Cowboy Junkies - Trinity Sessions, 200 More Miles
Joni Mitchell - Chalk Mark in a Rain Storm, Turbulent Indigo etc, etc
      Emmylou Harris - Wrecking Ball

Great suggestions! Will have too follow up on your first album. Is it on LP or digital only?

Miss America was available on both (I have both) so hopefully you can still find the LP somewhere. She sadly only did 1 album and then lost total faith in the industry! Huge shame. There are some videos on YouTube including Dark Dear Heart which is not on the album. Great musicians on the album including some that have played with Tom Waits I believe. Video for Body's in Trouble can be found on https://youtu.be/Z14wPTz6PdY and live version of Year In Song on https://youtu.be/wazB8ZRuPN0 ...perhaps not the best way to listen to her for the first time though. Hope you like it!

You might also enjoy Rickie Lee's great cover of Rebel Rebel on Traffic From Paradise.

Look past that famous song, it's a great album overall. Hated it when I got it, love it to death 20 years later...

          Tracy Chapman. Standout debut album:

Also like the Blondie, FM, JJ, CJ and Heart picks.
Kronos Sparta -> Trinity Phono -> Trinity Pre -> CH Precision A1 -> Magico S7s

It kills me how many reality show contestants tried this lady's songs and got eliminated as a result. Out of Metal and now doing music for Indie films, I just love Amy Lee.

I'm just going to list albums that I own, since they are really the only ones I can judge. The list is random and not by ranking. All on LP, except where noted.

                  9. Linda Ronstadt - Simple Dreams
                  10. Jewel - Pieces of You (CD)

                  bonus selections:

I like a bit more of an 'edge'

Bangles "Different Light" (although I hate 'Walk Like An Egyptian')
                    Blondie "Parallel Lines"
                    Cat Power "The Greatest"
Courtney Barnett "Sometimes I Sit and Think And Sometimes I Just Sit (Best 2015 Rock LP!)
                    The Cults
The Detroit Cobras "Tied and True"
                    Eisley "The Valley"
Aretha Franklin "I Never Love A Man The Way I Loved You"
Sharon Jones "I Learned The Hard Way"
                    The Kills "Blood Pressures"
Shelby Lynne "Tears, Lies and Alibis"
                    The Pretenders
                    The Ronettes "The Fabulous Ronettes"
                    Patti Smith "Horses"
Smoke Fairies "Through Low Light and Trees"
                    Dusty Springfield "Dusty In Memphis"
                    Sugarcubes "Life's Too Good"
The Supremes "Where Did Our Love Go?"
                    Tribalistas "Tribalistas"
