  • The Police - 5 years and 5 albums

From 1978-1983 The Police recorded 5 studio albums, all of which received platinum status in the UK, CANADA, the US and a lot of other countries. That's a resume to be proud of for sure and tells you there was some magic in their music. I've been a fan since day one and have all of their albums, which get regular turntable time. After their breakup in 1986, Sting and Stewart Copeland went on to create successful careers with Sting becoming a tour-de-force solo artist and Stewart Copeland writing many movie scores, in addition to numerous collaborations with other artists. Andy Summers also wrote several scores for movies, wrote books and exhibited his photographs. Pretty talented group of guys I'd say.

    Outlandos d'Amour (1978)
    Reggatta de Blanc(1979)
    Zenyatta Mondatta (1980)
    Ghost in the Machine (1981)
    Synchronicity (1983)

They reunited in 2007 and started a worldwide concert tour to celebrate their start 30 years earlier. The absolutely outstanding Certifiable: Live in Buenos Aires was released during this period.

All the albums I have are Canadian domestic A&M and A&M Audiophile pressings and well worth owning.

I grew up listening to them and continue to love them. Sting came up with one solo album I just couldn't like. It sounded like some weird pirate music. Maybe Johnny Depp likes it, I doubt Johnny Vinyl will.
