  • Anthony Phillips - The geese & the ghost

Anthony Phillips was a founding member of Genesis, but left after their second album (Trespass) due to stage fright ...and at the advice of his doctor. His first solo album was The geese & the ghost , which featured and was partly co-written by Mike Rutherford, with Phil Collins providing vocals. It is a truly outstanding example of progressive folk, which is a fave genre of mine.

Released in the U.S. and Canada in 1977 on Passport Records and mastered by Greg Calbi, it is another example of a really fine domestic pressing.

Dynavector DV20x2L MC cartridge - Genesis G7.1f speakers - Marantz Reference PM-KI-Pearl Int. Amp. - Oracle Audio Paris MkV turntable - Various Morrow & Valab/King cables

I have the US pressing on Passport and also the UK version on Run It. The UK pressing has different mastering. I need to do a shootout.

If you do, let me know your thoughts as I then might seek out a UK press.
