  • Do you keep the HYPE stickers affixed to new/old purchases?

I do, and also the original inner sleeves if they have writing on them. I cut them out and slide them between the front of the outer sleeve and jacket so I can see them. From various threads on other fora I can't really determine if most do or don't...not that it matters much or is even remotely important, but I'm just interested.

It really irks me if I buy let's say a used Classic Records reissue and it doesn't have the oval hype sticker identifying what the vinyl is.

Am I being anal about this? LOL!

I guess I just try and keep the plastic outer sleeve. All of my records are kept in plastic outer sleeves.

Do keep the obi on Japanese pressings! 😀
In the ’60s, the Japanese went wild for a new fad coming out of America and England—rock ’n’ roll. Albums by Elvis Presley and Briti...

Japanese pressings are worth considerably more with the obi sash. Kind of silly but thats the way it is. Never toss an obi away.

Even the MFSL ones? I don't like those outer sleeves...too large and flimsy.

At first i used to cut out the hype stickers on cellophane wrapped LPs and stick them in the jacket i quit over time. If the LP was sold with a loose perforated bag I usually reuse them for storage, but at some point I replace all the outer sleeves as well. Everything is now entered into a spread sheet, mainly so I don't accidentally buy the same record over again but also to keep track of its provenance, value, etc.

If any hype stickers, I carefully cut the wrap, take it off and put it into the album cover which is then placed in a new outer sleeve.

John if you could get a screaming deal on a Jpn pressing w/o OBI would you still pass on it? same for the hype sticker, why keep them unless you're going to trade/resale the record at some point.

If I got a screaming deal then I'd forego the Obi. I was speaking more in terms of standard pricing. I just like to keep everything as original as possible.
