Went on a serious record buying frenzy at the Marketplace at Axpona 2016. (Blame it on stress relief!)
Final damage tally includes:
2 X MOFI 45 rpm Miles Davis
45 rpm MOFIAlan Parson's I Robot
Latest MOFI Bob Dylan Nashville Skyline
MOFI Dean Martin
3 X Elvis Analogue Production releases
2 X 45 rpm Sam Cooke Analogue Productions releases
New Joe Jackson release from Intervention Records
ORG 45 rpm Elvis
Latest ORG 45 rpm Diana Krall Nat King Cole
1 exchanged 15 ips Jason Roebke tape from Jonathan Horwich (he remixed the original recording with a new mixer and the latest version sounded amazing in the NOLA speakers room!).
I tried to tell the two Jeff's (Joseph and Rowland) that Chad had given me permission to take the four sampler tapes home with me at the end of the show. They didn't buy it!
Well I would have needed a machine capable of playing 30 ips 1/2-inch tape anyway!
Know that thought though has a few guys here salivating though!
I'll be posting more pictures and some comments about Axpona 2016 in the next few days. Let me say this though. Axpona was the best high-end audio show I've been to in the last decade and rivaled some of the best ever. Attendance ALL three days was outstanding! As my audiobuddy Charlie King put it, "Friday was the Saturday that most exhibitors dream of." Sunday, usually so quiet you can hear a pin drop, was really busy up to around 2'clock. I am really interested in the final attendance figures because it seemed they crushed last year's numbers. And 5500 last year was far from shabby.
So what did other members that attended Axpona leave town with? (I saw Lee buying a few albums.)
