I have purchased quite a bit of vinyl from Amazon. Since am a prime member, it’s hard to resist. I get it the next day. Most of the time it’s packed in a typical LP cardboard mailer and all is well. I did get one once though that was literally put in another plastic wrap with a label slapped on that and sent that way - corners were of course bent. Immediate return, which costs me nothing.

Sadly, Acoustic Sounds has the worst of all worlds, sadly. Their shipping is slow and expensive and if there is an issue with the LP that isn’t “this thing is broken in 30 pieces” they won’t accept returns. I have a buddy at Music Direct who helps me so I’m not sure of their standard policies, but since they are in Chicago I tend to buy stuff from them for pickup.
    TAPE: Studer A807, A810; Revox B77 MkII; Tascam BR-20; Technics RS-1700; Pioneer RT-707, RT-909
    VINYL: Pioneer PL-50LII/Benz LP-S MR/ModWright PH 9.0; Denon DP59-L/Dynavector 20xH
    DIGITAL: Bryston SP-3, MacMini > Oppo Sonica/Pioneer N-50
    SPEAKERS: B&W Nautilus 800, Pioneer DSS-9
    AMPS: Cary SLP-05/Sunfire Signature 600, Pioneer SX-1980

Great example of Amazon packing. Or in this case, non-packing.

This is the near bulletproof packing I’m used to seeing from Amazon, and why I don’t hesitate to order vinyl from them. Obviously, quite different from Myles’ experience, for which I offer no excuse or explanation.

you're getting your LPs from Amazon's DC's on the East coast, all my shipments are out of their So.Cal DC with no issues. maybe its cultural or a difference in attitudes across markets in the US.

I have bought exactly one LP via Amazon and I agree about the packaging. I will stick to buying my LPs from LP people, thank you. At least they understand what kind of packaging is required and they understand what they are selling.

There is no addressing the stock that Amazon has. They do have buying power and large selling power. They just do not understand what they are selling. I had to repeat that because it is important. I miss sellers who know what they are selling. The internet is a big digital house representing products and few if anyone knows what they are selling.

God I miss brick and mortar stores with people who know their stock. As time goes on things get more and more automated and we get less service.

Life is analog...digital is just samples thereof.

Maybe this is an east coast west coast thing? My experience with amazon LP shipping is that they do a better job than anyone - see my post #20 above for photographic evidence. None of the other big mail order LP guys come close to that kind of packaging. This whole thing is bizarre.
