  • Albums you'd like to see get Reissued on Vinyl

I'm always on the lookout (especially Acoustic Sounds) for vinyl reissues that use original master tapes and remastered by quality people/plants. Analogue Productions has usually never steered me wrong and love the albums they reissue. So I figured I'd start a thread to see what's on everyone's wish list. My wants are the hard to find pop/rock/soul albums in good condition without paying over $100 for an original, especially the early mono recordings. The other hard to find items, are albums from the mid to late 90s when vinyl was most out of production. With that, here is my wish list, limit of 5:

Etta James, At Last in mono (originally on Argo label)
Etta James, Sings for Lovers in mono (Argo)
Elvis Presley Golden Records in mono
Toad the Wet Sprocket, Fear album
The Cranberries, Everyone Else Is Doing It.. album

I'm a huge The Cranberries fan and have been waiting forever to see their catalogue reissued properly. I'd also love to see Matt Johnson's The The albums given the some AAA analogue reissues.

    Love this tune!

Its a good time for 90s reissues. I got most (if not all) of the stuff i was looking for from that decade. It annoys me without end that not a week goes by without a new Fleetwoodmac Re-Re-Re-Re issue appearing, but Buckingham Nicks which is the Blue print for where post peter green fleetwood mac where going has not even been rereleased in digital let alone analog format! Ok maybe they are so embarrased by the album cover they want to forget about the album, but what a shame....

Ive got the original LP. Picked it up at a garage sale in the 90's for a buck. FYI, the cover photo on the album I have (Polydor) is not that embarrassing because its a tighter cropped shot than the one you posted, no Lindsay's nipples for example.

I'd love to see a complete Pink Floyd boxset done AAA and including both MONO releases (when available) and STEREO releases.

That would be killer, the only monos probably would be the first few LPs.

Another album I'd love to see is Steppenwolf's eponymous debut. It was released in both Stereo and Mono, although the latter was a fold-down stereo mix.

Looks like Plain Records is reissuing their second album. Reviews of Fiona Apple's reissues has been lukewarm, so not sure if it will be up to snuff...

Problem is there's a difference between wanting to reissue something and whether it has enough legs to sell 2000 copies minimum!

Some thoughts off the top of my head. Lot's of stuff that I would l love such as:

Kavi's Music for the Motherless Child with Wu Mann and Martin Simpson (though don't know if the deck to play the tape is still around; know Kavi sold it a while back)

Mallets, Melody and Mayhem (Columbia) Spoke to Chad about this one but he looked at me cross-eyed. But everyone who has heard it hear has been blown away.

A 45 rpm reissue of Pulse: Works for Percussion and Strings maybe?

Also a better reissue than Pure Pleasure did of Lightnin' in New York. At 45 rpm.

Or a couple of the other Cat Steven's albums such as Teaser and the Firecat, Foreigner or Buddha and the Chocolate Box?

I also think it's great that MOFI, Acoustics Sounds and Classic did quite a few albums from:

              Bob Dylan
              Grateful Dead
              Stevie Wonder
              The Doors
              Peter Gabriel
              Led Zepellin

Just lost an auction bidding for an Etta James At Last LP, original Mono on the Argo label. The cover had a 3 inch split at the top and the record was graded VG++ and still went for $160. These are the types of records I wish they would reissue in multiple formats: 33 RPM, 45 RPM, Mono, Stereo, etc. They reissue so many albums that can easily be purchased in NM condition. I mean, how many Billy Joel or Springsteen reissues can we have? I hope they start to reissue the hard to find originals from artists in the 50s and 60s, like this Etta album (and her other earlier albums).
