My mint condition original disappeared many years ago. But I can't justify replacing it at that price. I'll stick with Anner Bylsma's boxed set on Pro Arte. It was always my alternate favorite. i have two of that box, one still sealed.

I have a signed mint original but going to order this anyway. Remember this reissue will not sound like the original as Tom and Ryan tried to capture more of what was on the master.

I would recommend trying finding the German pressing of Bylma’s (SEON - RCA) which is way better than the Pro Arte pressing (I have both).

Ordered. Have the Speakers Corner reissue which sounds great to me but couldn’t resist buying this one since I love this music.

While signing my original box set (back in early ‘90s), Starker looked at me and quipped, “the sins of my youth.”

If this is his sin, he wasn’t much of a sinner... Have never heard or read any criticism re his playing on this LP.

Neither have I but we are looking at the ultimate critic! 😊

I ordered my set yesterday. Never had an original set. The Mercury Golden Import version is very fine and sought after also. I have the Speakers Corner (IIRC) reissue which I thought was very fine. I do have the set in 15ips 2 track copy of a safety master or maybe a third generation copy. I'll compare when I get the new set. We heard Alisha Weilerstein play the entire 6 suites in one concert this past year. She did it in Berkeley. Quite a tour de force in one night.

Those of you in the USA are so lucky to be able to order lps that often have free shipping. Those of us north of the 49th & elsewhere often have to pay through the nose for shipping (often as much as $100 for 6 records). It's brutal.

A while back I'd said I was done buying classical records, and would only buy CD because of so many disappointing quality issues (groove noise, crackle etc). If pressings were all as fine as this, I would happily buy more classical records again. Quiet, very rich tone; man, this sings, even my modest system.
