Hey, you can finance it for $85/mo for the next 24 mos...$1750? that's absurd. I've seen sealed copies recently trade for under $300, NM copies can still be found for 40-60.

That's not always the case, many people live overseas and don't have access to the same merchandise and/or pricing that we have in the US and some simply don't care...

you can live in the most remote and desolate corner of the world and if you have access to the 'net and half a brain finding out the true market price is not hard. If you buy on eBay you also have access to closed auction data, never has a sealed copy of FD sold for anywhere close to half of 1750.

This guy simply thinks he's found his gold at the end of the rainbow. You see a few of these and the price keeps coming down and down. They are just hoping for someone with money and no knowledge of price who want the album etc. so desperately to pay an absurd price. All you need is one person and as they say in business, it's easier to start high and go down than low and go up!

As Rob said, all you need to do is a search for For Duke to find the going prices. And exhibit a touch of patience. When I first starting bidding on ePay years ago, people, especially newbies, used to stupidly bid on an item as soon as it was listed, driving the price up to stupid levels. Finally, people got smart and wait until the last minute.

I found a stone mint copy at a record show for $20 about 20 years ago. I liked it so much I later found a sealed copy for $100. Still have both.

It's been a mainstay in the audiophile catalog for eons, apparently some people are just discovering it.

I've been overwhelmed with envy at MikeL's and was thinking more like this one for her birthday...

And I bought my copy of "For Duke" for $25.00 open but in mint condition at Princeton Record Exchange about 3 years ago. The only thing unusual about the purchase is that somehow it got into their bins for that price.

Is it absurd if it sells? Or if it doesn't?

I'm currently single, but I would never show that listing to my wife....It just might be grounds for divorce.

There are 10 copies on Discogs ranging from VG+ to NM...and a lot cheaper than this opportunist is trying sell his for.

Shop the 1978 US Vinyl release of For Duke by Bill Berry And His Ellington Allstars at Discogs.

Chances are with an album liked this was owned by someone who took care of it. Don't expect just anyone bought it and thus even a VG+ is probably in good shape and NM is really NM.
