What a recording. Know Classic released St.
James Infirmary as a 45 rpm single but I Ain't Got Nobody or Hot Time in Old Town Tonight are every bit as good as or even better!
Sadly now even the Analogue Production reissue seems OOP.

Finally, this arrived today after being around the world twice in the last 42 days !! don't ask.
John Foxx – Concrete And Organised Noise - 500 copies only pressed - SOLD OUT. this is awesome!!
Alongside the raw, icy aggression of vocal-led Burning Car and Miss Machinery, this collection of instrumental music from 1980 initially appeared on the 2018 Metamatic box set. Now on vinyl for the first time to celebrate Metamatic’s 40th anniversary in January 2020, this is a haunted, at times beautiful electronic soundtrack which stands as a sister album to the main work.

Like Michael Fremer's review of this album from the set I'm not sure what drove them to use so much reverb on this album. Perhaps it was dry sounding and they tried to add a bit of added studio ambience to it. Really all they did was mess up what would have otherwise been a really good album of well known L&L tunes. It comes across like it was recorded in a small parkade. The playing is in Chet's usually subdued style but there's lots of good rapport going on amongst the entire lineup.

It's a shame that this bonus disc wasn't given the all analogue treatment that the rest of them were because there's a lot of interesting singing & playing on this lp. Really there's enough on here that makes me wonder what else of Chet's work is sitting in Concord's vault that could be given a quality mastering and release as it's own box set? The sound isn't a poor as Fremer's review would lead you to believe but it's obviously from a digital source. The music is very good and just needs a better presentation. My favourite on this album is Early Morning Mood which is a Baker penned number. He's joined by Mann, Adams, Evans, Burrell, Chambers and Philly Joe. Just a laid back slowly swinging tune where everyone gets their moment in the sun. I like this disc."I'm...a rather simple person with a limited talent and perhaps a limited perspective"...Bill Evans
