AP45 Hugh Masekela Hope is totally great. I like it more than the tape.
AP45 The Royal Ballet blows my mind.
MoFi One-Step Stevie Ray Vaughn Texas Flood even better than the AP45 box set.

I agree!, I have played the 33, 45 and now this box set along with the tapes. This box set is phenomenal. I think I will buy another box and keep it under wraps.

Yes early stereo, hard left/right. Outside of that are simply amazing.

MoFi Tom Waits/Crystal Gayle - One From The Heart (even the 33 rpm version)
Classic Records - Genesis - Nursery Cryme
Classic Records - Genesis - Selling England By The Pound
Classic Records - Genesis - Lamb Lies Down on Broadway
I know the Classic Genesis reissues were controversial and some folks didn't like them, but they are better than my original English or American pressings of these albums. Probably should include Foxtrot too, but I only have a poor quality American pressing to compare with it.

'every' single-sided early Classic Records 45 rpm title. outrageously good. every damn one of them. these were mostly 90's transfers when the tapes were younger.

the Classic Records 45rpm LZ box set.

RCA started serious recording in stereo in 1954. Their vinyl stereo issues didn't come out until 1958. However, they did start releasing the stereo albums on tape a few years earlier (I think 1955, maybe even late 1954). I have several RCA classical tapes (Myles has more than me) from that era. Don't have any of their pop recordings on tape from that time. BTW, Decca also started recording in stereo in 1954, again with the vinyl versions released in 1958. In both RCA and Decca vinyl, they did release the mono versions of the recordings close to the recording dates.

Here’s some more suggestions of the best of reissues from my shelves.

Kenny Burrell: Midnight Blue, AP/Contemporary 45 rpm

Friday Night In SF: Impex/Columbia 45 rpm

Sonny Rollins: WOW Out West, AP/Contemporary 45 rpm

Peter, Paul and Mary: In the Wind, ORG/WB 45 rpm

Gary Karr: Songs of Prayer (this will test the lower limits of your system; if his bass sounds as big as the organ-and it can in some systems-need to readjust something in the system.)

The OJC WOW was cut with the wrong EQ as were many other Contemporary OJCs. The person mastering these OJCs didn’t realize Roy DuNann used his own tape EQ on the original tapes. John Koenig was really pissed off when that happened.

While I knew about the EQ issue on that album (in general) I didn't know that it applied to this LP, so thank you. Must go back and compare again...

I think the Cisco remix of this record is simply awful. The original on ABC is much better. I bought both of these plus the MOFI. Only the Cisco annoys me. YMMV.

Not distorted that I can recall. I unloaded my copy after listening to it once or twice. My recollection is that the remix made it sound more like Katy Lied than Aja. Aja did not need a remix. All it needed was a tiny bit of EQ boost at the frequency extremes and better quality vinyl.

OK Myles, but I am only suggesting that a repress is not the same as a reissue such as going from a Blue Note to Music Matters. If subsequent repress of an original is better or worse, that would be good to know.

Oh I understand and agree. I got my copy last year so probably indicative of the most recent offering. Hell the same pop recording can be pressed at different places too.
