  • What Is This About?

“The software is functioning as intended,” said Amber. “Wait,” I asked, “so it’s supposed to delete my personal files from my internal hard drive without asking my permission?” “Yes,” she replied. I had just explained to Amber that 122 GB of music files were missing from my laptop. I’d already visited the online forum, I…

Unfortunately, this is not new news. Apple has, over recent years, made gradual, incremental changes in how iTunes works. And what is does/can do with music on one's computer.
And it's not good. So, I just shut off all access to the internet via iTunes, do not use the store, and for the most part do not keep music in an iTunes library/folder.
That said, there are a couple of features that I like for checking if metadata has been entered correctly/consistently, so
I use it for that, and only that. But, as far as I'm concerned, one uses iTunes at their own risk.

There is a cautionary tale if I've ever heard one. The benign great and powerful Oz, er, Apple reaching into private property and destroying and stealing personal property all the while indemnified by fine print nobody ever reads or understands.

I know people that signed over their first born child to Apple without realizing it due to the fine print that nobody reads. The guy was able to settle by turning over his wife instead.

At least Apple can't steal my records or tapes, not that I know of anyway!

You haven't clicked the "Agree" box on anything from Apple have you? If so they might now hold the copyright to everything you've ever written and may suddenly hold it hostage in their cloud.

Hey, just 'cause I'm paranoid doesn't mean I'm wrong.

I realize most people probably don't have an Apple Music account, nor do I. but this is an interesting article anyway.
