Are new releases less dynamically compressed?

That's fine, not limiting to one medium or the other.

This is complex as I do not really buy current music being produced like say pop. Mostly I buy the hi end dsd downloads from the good companies
like blue coast and such. But I do use tidal as well to listen to new pop
          analog stuff.

This is a tough question to answer with any degree of accuracy or even perception as there are so many variables. Record labels, vinyl quality, pressing quality, recording method(s), mastering, etc. I've bought vinyl that had both good and bad qualities, all bad and also all good. I voted "undecided" as it's still very much a mixed bag with inconsistencies remaining far too high for my liking.

I do know as buyers we can make a difference and UMG Back to Black is a prime example. When they first started rolling these out the quality was horrendous and I ended up selling the few I bought. This was well-known and heavily discussed on various fora. UMG must have taken notice as the newer releases are much much better.

IMO though, much of today's product is a crapshoot.

As was the past for me . Look at pink Floyd dark side of the moon .is own so may copies of this album . One of favorite tracks great gig , not one is what I call reference quality . They all hiss so it's must be from tape right ? But it's not the hiss that bothers me it's the overall lack dynamics and clarity . Some live tracks of the same are better.
              analog stuff.

As someone who does buy a lot of new music on vinyl, really its the same as its ever been. Some sound quality is great, some good and a small % poor.

Vinyl has the ability to transcend the so-called "compression and loudness " affliction that digital heads complain about all the time so I don't find many releases irritating as some do - but I listen to and enjoy the music over as i don't find too many albums that sound terrible.

One thing is, there is so much great new music out there, it really is hard to keep up.

What a tough question there is so much music out there, so many genres that could have been recorded and mastered better and yet there is a lot of music out there that is made it appears for the itune and mp3 world. Not to mention a lot of the music I like has not been on vinyl in years or has not be remastered so I have nothing to compare it with.
