Great question. Multi nearly always , the why is easy . I like close mic recordings , so close Thst music played live in front is not what I like anymore . I know it's not real Per say but it's what I have come to likeanalog stuff.

Of course you could always find both versions of the old Bach-Malloch Town Hall release of "The Art of Fuguing" where they recorded both a single stereo microphone and a well done multi-mic version simultaneously and released them both. What's your definition of multi mic'd more than 1, 3, 4, 6? I have many pared down and awesome sounding direct-to-disc and 2-track recordings that used 3, 4 and more mics. When I listen to music mic Ed from a distance it's not appealing as I feel there is notes and details I do not hearanalog stuff.

With jazz recordings, less always seems to be more. Go back and listen to the great jazz recordings from the late 1950s. Rock recordings as rock evolved help drive multi-track machines to 16 track, 24 track, and 48 track machines. It's a miracle that Sgt.
