Weird Records to Collect

I seem to remember reading many years ago about Ken Kessler collecting cartridge test records (that is besides Beatle's albums). I have a few around but don't ask me why have some of them other than they were cheap and I said WTH!

I like the the test track on the HFN&RR test CD with the guy banging on the garage door, is it on the test LP? I probably should pay more attention to test records as they can be very useful and they usually go for peanuts. Are Direct-to-Disc weird to collect? (sound over substance). They seem to appreciate in value at a faster pace than my stock portfolio, i'll keep collecting them no matter how schmaltzy it looks to others.

I have a Hi-Fi one, but it has a RED cover. Do you ever use any of them?

I got rid of a box full of old test records a few years ago. I kept a few, including that French one, Pierre Vernay?
I have tons of stupid novelty records, from Music for Non-Thinkers, to the Music for a {Backyard BBQ, Chinese Dinner at Home, etc], all those Hugo Montegro Goes {Spanish, Gypsy, South of the Border, Insane, etc.]; all those dumb "lounge records" -e.g. Esquavil (sounds like a drug that if, after 4 hours....); Sounds in Space and old stereo "demo" records, et, ad nauseam. One my wife remembers--but I can't seem to identify-- is a record where a guy is talking, then a garage door shuts in front of him, and you then hear him shouting through the door, muffled. If you know the record, let me know. I never anted for the strange and bizzare- like the armless, legless guy who plays organ. Some of those command a price today. I'm strange, but not that strange....

Does anyone remember--or even have--the old mono Audiophile label recording Echoes of the Storm. Kind of a very early test record with B-side containing water dripping into a bucket, a hammer hitting a nail, etc. Best part is when Ewing Nunn put his mike in the backyard and recorded a thunderstorm!

Echoes of The Storm is a long time demo disc, it was my initiation into collecting Ewing Nun's Audiophile records. I had 3/4th of them at one time and sold the majority off when i quit the hobby the 1st time. I still have Echoes and a hand full of others. Bill's avatar is the consummate Audiophile pressing - gold label over red wax.

I use Chad's for among other things, setting azimuth with the Foz.

Two of them, the Stereo Review and Fisher, are more musical selections chosen for certain qualities. Should have also added the Ohm record picked up recently.
