In a Mary Black frame of mind tonight. Hadn't played these recordings in years, maybe a decade. Two are Rega imports!

I'm in a Celtic kind of mood these days too. Mary Black and especially Niamh Parsons who has one of the most beautiful voices.

Yeah I know it's a repeat but had to hear this again with the cj ART back in the system and the amazing Ortofon A95 mounted on the Classic Direct. And it wasn't disappointing. An absolute must-have from Analogue Productions and along with the Elvis '57, one of the best reissues Chad has produced to date. And what backing musicians!!!!

This 15 ips tape from Smoke and Mirrors s is absolutely mind blowing as was their premier release on Yarlung Records (that coincidentally was one of my choices for Product of the Year). The music and sound is amazing as we have come to expect from Yarlung. And not a bunch of warhorses either. The LP version is on my wish list as it contains all the tracks from the release! Miss this one at your own risk!

Mostly a tape kind of day today with the exception of the 45 rpm Melody Gardot release on ORG Music.

Some great tapes today especially the Opus 3 Sampler V (with the exception of track 1 that is oddly distorted; I have to send a note to Kevin Berg about that!) Highlights from the sampler are the Eric Bibb (as always), the Stockholm Guitar Quartet (you know them from the Opus 3 test records or actual release) and finally the Lars Estrand. There's just a sense of transparency, presence and space on the Opus 3s that is rarely captured on other recordings. Bravo Jan-Eric!

The Danielle Mencarelli is very good and I just love his use of rhythms. The Analogy Records is an interesting East-West fusion while the Robert Cray sounds like you are hearing him play in a smoky bar.

Allen, are you posting from you computer or ipad? Mobile sources are still dodgy in this version of vbulletin and you are much better off uploading pics them from your computer. Or sending phone pics to the computer and then posting. Know it's a PITA but will have to do until vbulletin has a fix.

If they don't, may have to eventually migrate the site to another host and that would allow me to use a third party plug-in such as even Tapatalk. But I went for simplicity in the beginning and hope everyone can bear with me for the time being.

One can still post pics and viewers just have to click on to enlarge.

No that's an original TBM release. Haven't compared this, however, to the box set. Sonically, it's great.

Four of my favorite Contemporary releases (thanks to Steve Hoffman for recommending the Cooper that he remastered!). Unfortunately all are later pressings. I just can't find early pressing of these releases. Did they get throw out? There is a Cooper for sale on audiophileusa.com but they want $250 for it. No thanks, I'll just make do with my OJC. I know what's missing but my brain can suspend disbelief.

Yes, Chad reissued it a while back but it's one reissue that fell short of the original. Maybe if he redid it today it would another story. BTW, all four albums comrising the Live at the Blackhawk are sensational.
