  • Longest dedicated music session all by your lonesome!

I spent 9.5hrs yesterday listening to music. I started at around 11am and didn't come up for air until 8:30pm. This certainly was one of the longest listening sessions in recent memory. You'd think I'd be covering the gamut of genres available to me, but I didn't, and stuck with Rock/R&B & Blues. I posted some of the selections in the Listening thread. I could have continued as I was really in a groove, but I needed nourishment and my daily dose of news.

I had an awesome time and I'm really appreciative of the fact I have a nice system to enjoy the musical talents of so many great artists. I don't know when I'll experience such a long session again, but I hope it's not too far away.

FYI - My average session is normally between 2-4 hours in the afternoon.

Yeah, I used to do these marathons with my audio buddy Chuck Lamonica (RIP). We'd start at noon, take breaks so I could smoke (I've since stopped, this was like 26 years ago), and when we got hungry, we'd eat. Dinner usually meant Chuck making an entire Sicilian meal from scratch, including the noodles and the "gravy." My wife was (and still is) close with Chuck's wife, so the ladies would hang all day, occasionally come in and listen to a track to humor us, but I'd get home late at night, sated.
The problem is, you're hungry again--at least for music- - a couple hours later.

It would be nice to have a bathroom down in the dungeon too. Either that or I gotta stop drinking beer!

I'm lucky to be retired and my wife still works. I get in 5-8 hour sessions almost every weekday of the week. Still going today since 4:00 AM, only pausing to check on my spaghetti sauce now and then.

For me its mainly just sitting here listening. I grab 4-5 records I want to hear and then go through them, and then grab another 4-5 records. If on the laptop I surf the "what are you listening to" thread here on AN and see things I have not heard in a while and its off to the music races.

I have my main system routed to my pc system in the bedroom. Sometimes I will spin classical Lps all day long while surfing the web.

About 5-7 hours for me. I did a long session of listening to all of the Silk Road Ensemble CDs I had. Excellent music.

Other than that, I'm lucky to get 2-3 hours straight.:-(

im lucky to be retired. We could stop talking right now. BUT, my wife still works part time from home so my listening schedule varies depending on her needs. Once in a while she has an outside meeting taking her away for a day or two and then ITS AUDIOPHILE GONE WILD!!!!!!!!!! 7:30 am until whenever. Plus I just moved to a unique high rise condo where no walls, ceiling, or floor touch another apartment so virtually soundproof. I can play music until the wee hours of the morning! For the most part though, my sessions are about 3 hrs a day and sometimes divided into two or three sessions.

It's a bit of everything for me. I can, and do, dedicate myself to the music without any distractions on many occasions, but the laptop and a notebook is always with me and on standby so to speak. And even though I've probably read them many times, I still love reading liner notes while I'm listening.
