Jonathan Derda of Mobile Fidelity brought along the first test pressing of the MOFI's first Ultra Disc release to RMAF. Didn't get to hear it yet but hopefully tomorrow. According to Jonathan, their Santana album is scheduled for release in December but rumor is the album is just about sold out. So if you are sitting on the fence and haven't preordered the album, suggest you do now because later may be too late. Oh and Jonathan said two more Ultra Discs are in the works but couldn't share the titles yet. Even under threat of waterboarding.

Could you ask them if all 2500 disks get pressed from the one cut lacquer, or do multiple lacquers have to be cut to produce the run of disks?
-
The description of the process in the photo above indicates that a "set of lacquers" is produced, I assume one for each convert (stamper). Is this correct Myles? If so, how many lacquers for each title?
-
Yes, JC. Michael Shrieve went back to the original artist. Just didn't take a picture because it was hard to shoot by the elevator.

The artwork is included. If you didn't preorder, you are SOL. ebay will be flooded with copies if I want one, but I don't. I'm just not that excited about buying a $100 record I already have a nice copy of and don't listen to that often. The title is everything to me. Hopefully the next few will be more appealing to me....Last edited by JCOConnell; 10-09-2016, 12:55 AM.
