  • I'd have to say 1970 was a hard year to beat for great music.

My favorite album, Layla, is number 9. Even Mountain made the list at 93. And so many other good ones in between. I'd be happy with this 100 for my desert island.

1970 was excellent, but '69 and '71 were both even better.

Probably so, and all 3 years put to shame those later '70's years some of you are so fond of

Personally, I'd rank 1971 second and 1969 third. Some great albums on all three.

To me '69 represents the most influential year in rock, sort of a watershed in influential groups. This carried through into '70 and '71. The Beatles last, Led Zeppelins first, the Whos opus, King Crimsons prog rock statement, Chicagos first and best, CS&n, Santanas first.

It is hard to rate the years, one way is to look a which has the most releases I own, and then there is the one which I consider to have the most influential releases.

Of course there is '68 simply because of Hendrix.

1967 was up there with 1968 - tough to decide between. Hendrix first album came out in '67. My first 2 years in college.

It sure was a terrific year. I'm always hesitant to pick a favourite year out of the late sixties through to the mid-seventies. The quality was just so awesome during those years.

That's why they call it "classic" rock.
Working...
