  • R.I.P Leonard Cohen

At the age of 82, Leonard Cohen passed away today. Yet another terrible loss of another highly influential artist this year.

    RIP Leonard.

He will be missed. My first experience with a Leonard Cohen song was Judy Collins singing Suzanne on stage in the mid '60's. She recorded it in one of her many records on Elektra. The most memorable for me is Jennifer Warnes' Famous Blue Raincoat, which contains all Leonard Cohen songs. Cohen sings a powerful duet with Warnes in the album, "Joan of Arc." It is one of my all time favorite albums.I have two versions - the original in vinyl and a 20th anniversary reissue on a two record box set (blue in color of course), which includes several other Leonard Cohen songs as well as a concert performance of "Joan of Arc."

yesterday Tim Buckley's cover of Hallelujah was playing on different radio stations within the same hour, I found it odd until I learned why. RIP Leonard, he truly was one of a kind.
