      I don't see this as a key driver for demand...that's an inexplicable set of market forces around nostalgia, revival, fashion, social media...and certainly not price. Will this new method lower price...only if the Chinese join the production lift quality and lower production costs so they can force a lower price point to emerge. Let's see...

        It was price that killed the two track reel market. By that I mean the price for a stereo vinyl pressings were significantly lower that the cost for a two track tape. No doubt the introduction of four track stereo tapes was a reaction to the sales of stereo records. The release of four track tapes did not help the sales of the premium two tracks.
        According to the spokesman in the video link the cost of manufacturing the final product will drop with less (30-40% claimed) recycling and handling of rejected discs.

          DDB yes....today however we have a new market of 180g 45-65USD records...its hard to step back from that without a mass market approach...such as the Chinese specialise in...
