IMO, I’m not alone, greatest American composer ever. Did you know when he died there were more than 200,000 sheets of unfinished music which were organized and codified?did you know he had a difficult time finishing a composition in time for performance?someone once told him he needed more time and he said he didn’t need more time but that he needed a deadline.

wow. that's a good one, on a major label too. Is it 15 ips or 7.5 ips?

All of the Barclay-Crocker tapes are 7.5 IPS, 4-track. And they’re almost all fabulous. The last great run of commercial reel production, before the 15 IPS 2-track started several decades later.

      • Yes Please!

Some great stuff here, check out cut 5. Fabulous recording.

              • Don't you hate crappy Q/C? Almost every PP LP I have is a mess. Non-fill, skips, vinyl that is worse than 70s reground vinyl, pops, ticks, etc. Too bad as are good recordings. Nancy Wilson even seems to have distortion past a certain level.

Sonny Rollins, though apparently cut by Gray and Hoffman, is a pale facsimile of the other two Rollins RCAs cuts by Bernie Grundman for Classic. (That are sensational BTW.) Just sounds thin, plasticky and lacks any sense of reverb or space. What could they have done in the playing and stamping? Or did they a crappy tape source? Just ordered the ORG reissue done by Bernie for comparison.
