It begins! Tom Pessagno, longtime chief engineer with The Mastering Lab under the late Doug Sax, talks about the console he's designing for the mastering room at Blue Heaven Studios/Acoustic Sounds in Salina, KS. A while back we announced that Chad Kassem of Acoustic Sounds had purchased The Mastering Lab after Doug's death. We have completed the move of the equipment from Ojai, north of L.A., to Salina. Work has begun with Tom and Ed Hukoveh, Mastering Lab design engineer, to create a new mastering facility inside Blue Heaven; freshly cut lacquers will be plated and vinyl stampers created at nearby Quality Record Pressings.
Uncrating. Ed Hukoveh, design engineer with The Mastering Lab, the former mastering facility headed by the late Doug Sax, unpacks lathes and turntables shipped from the Mastering Lab's former home in Ojai, Calif. to Blue Heaven Studios in Salina, KS. Here at Blue Heaven/Acoustic Sounds, Ed and fellow engineer Tom Pessagno have begun work on a new mastering room using Mastering Lab equipment.
