    Recently uncovered footage of the recording session and Armstrong doing "I Ain't Got Nobody" in 1959! Wow!


    Story of the only known film of Armstrong recording in the studio!

        thanks, I thought so. I bought the reissue LP of that one and it sounds real sweet IIRC.

          Mark and I heard a second gen copy of "St. James Infirmary" a couple of years ago at RMAF courtesy of Mike Spitz and Bruce Brown. Played back on an ATR-102 Aria deck.

                It was beyond sweet. I was able to spend time with just Mike Spitz in JTinn's room at the first RMAF show I attended and heard St. James Infirmary playing at 30 ips. This was the first night when JTinn was just getting his room set up. JTinn and crew left to go eat dinner and Mike and I stayed behind and listened to tape on his tricked out ATR deck. How you are supposed to go back to the farm after hearing this tape at 30 ips is beyond me.

                  I think it was either George Cardas or Jeff Joseph or both that "discovered" this gem years ago. A few of George's discoveries are people's shelves.

                    I like Armstrongs choice of attire for the session. It must have been casual Friday in the studio. Unusual decision considering he was being filmed.
