An Upper West Side apartment in a townhouse that was once home to Miles Davis is now on the market for $495,000. The jazz legend lived in the Renaissance Revival-style landmarked home at 312 W. 77th St., which dates back to 1881, before it was carved into six apartments. It is also featured in Davis’ biopic, “Miles Ahead,” currently in theaters. Davis lived there for 25 years and could often be found on the brownstone’s stoop, hanging out with area residents. In fact, in 2014, the block between Riverside Drive and West End Avenue was officially renamed “Miles Davis Way,” thanks to the efforts of one of Davis’ neighbors, Shirley Zafirau. The available second-floor residence is a one-bedroom, one-bathroom unit with high ceilings, wood floors, exposed brick walls, a decorative fireplace, large bay windows — and maintenance of $1,025 a month. This is the also the apartment where Davis composed music for albums including “Kind of Blue” and “Bitches Brew.” Visitors included music greats like Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter, Dizzy Gillespie, Art Blakey and Tony Williams (who also rented in the building). The listing brokers are Corcoran’s Kristina Ojdanic and Goran Ojdanic.
