Raised in Bali, listening to his dad's old records, Joey Alexander plays a brand of sharp, modern piano jazz that you likely wouldn't expect to hear from a pre-teenager.…

Newport, RI - Joey Alexander's YouTube videos caught the attention of Wynton Marsalis. One thing led to another and now this prodigy is coming to Newport.

January 3, 2016 Joey Alexander plays jazz like a veteran of decades, but he’s just 12 years old. Anderson Cooper reports on the jazz prodigy. Wynton Marsalis, one of the biggest names in jazz and a contributor to 60 Minutes, has seen a lot of young talent over the years.

He is certainly something. I have to wonder a bit about the almost total saturation in music and home schooling leaving no room for outside social interaction or interests. It would seem to run a risk of burnout or apathy. One can hope not as I find his "style" intriguing.

I saw the episode yesterday and thought he was reincarnation of Mozart.
