Not sure how many here have any experience with this Prestige subsidiary but here goes. How do you tell the stereo from mono releases?Apparently both appear to have the same BVLP code and no other discriminating marker that I can tell. I did a Google search and apparently this question has come before on several sites including Steve Hoffman's and no one seems to have an answer.
In case you haven't heard any of the Bluesville releases, the label features real folk blues and were engineered for the most part by RVG from 1960-64. Four Bluesville recordings been reissued by Acoustic Sounds and the sonics and music are top rate. I turned Mark/MEP onto Chad's 45 rpm release of Shakey Jake and know he was impressed. The 33-1/3 rpm Lonnie Johnson is long OPP (though one or two of his recordings might be available on Pure Pleasure Records IIRC); Last Night Blues, Willie's Bliues and Mouth Harp were both reissued as 45 rpm releases a couple of years back and can still be had new; Goin' Away was also part of that original 45 rpm series but the good news was just reissued as part of the new Prestige stereo series at 33-1/3 rpm. All come highly recommended.

The major reason for asking, though, is the Jazz Record Center is having an ePay auction on some original Bluesville releases and there is no indication whether they are mono or stereo. Guess could email Fred if nothing else works and ask.
