    Came Across This Video of Django Reinhardt

    Simply amazing. And I complain about my fingers being too short and thick; Reinhardt's third and fourth fingers were paralyzed from burns suffered in a fire. One of the best guitarists of all time, Django originated the "hot jazz" guitar style as well as making the guitar an accepted part of jazz music.

    Two of many pieces of trivia:
    • The Allman Brothers Band song "Jessica" was written by Dickey Betts in tribute to Reinhardt.
    • Reinhardt's music has been used in the soundtrack of many films, including in The Matrix; Rhythm Futur, Daltry Calhoun, Metroland, Chocolat, The Aviator, Alex and the Gypsy, Kate and Leopold and Gattaca; the score for Louis Malle's 1974 movie, Lacombe Lucien; the background for the Steve Martin movie L.A. Story; and the background for a number of Woody Allen movies, including Stardust Memories.

        My dad and I are going to the NW Djandgofest on Bainbridge Island next week. Going to hear local favorites Pearl Django and Rhythm Future Quartet.

              There's also a Django Festival in New York City too. Unfortunately missed it this year.


              I also neglected Django's long time partner was none other than Stephane Grappelli.
