    One of the pioneers in the use of modes, Coltrane led some 50 recording sessions over the course of his all too short career.



    All Coltrane fans should definitely pick up a copy of Ashley Kahn's book about the history of Impulse Records named The House That Trane Built. Impulse made Coltrane the first jazz musician with a long term contract for the day.
