  • Who's gonna buy the $100 Bill Evans Trio MoFi 1-Step Lp?

Not me. While the music is excellent. I just don't think it will be sonically interesting enough to justify the cost. Fourty-Two minutes of music spilt over four sides doesn't thrill me
either. They raised the limited edition number to 3000 on this one. It may be a tougher slower sell than Santana was.

As I said in a previous thread I can't see myself buying any of these releases. Being in Canada it's just too cost-prohibitive for me.

It does indeed, plus the exchange rate, duties and brokerage fees. Would cost me about $170...no thank you.

Yes wouldn't miss the upcoming Bill Evans MOFI release for anything in the worlds no matter how many copies and different pressings I have! Arguably the greatest-- live musically and sonically-- jazz recording (s) of all time. Let's me pick and choose the best sounding LP to play. Can't wait until Chad starts to release his UHQRs!

Man I just played the tape of WFD last night through the Doshi tape stage and I was in heaven! Have to say that I've never heard Scot Lafaro's bass sound or more real than last night! Nor Evans' piano. Just wish that guy in the audience would shut up and bring some cough drops. Man that must have been a hungry crowd that night!

Yeah, but these 1-Steps would be better served by master recordings of higher technical merit. This one is a remote live recording of three instruments, no vocals. Not exactly challenging the format.

the hoarders that buy multiples account for at least 50% of the sales, the potential number in circulation when it goes OOP will be half that or less. Abraxas now goes for 400-500 so the Bill Evans is a no brainer in my book, and I intend to play mine!

Have you heard the recording JC? I strongly disagree owning the 15 ips tape of Waltz for Debby. There is no better sounding live jazz recording. Equal maybe. Better no. Piano, bass and drums are hardly a walk in the park to record. Not to mention capturing the live sound of the audience too. Great sound--live or otherwise along with great jazz musicians. The best trio Evans put together. Not to mention the last album Evans made with LaFaro before he tragically died.

i have pre ordered. I agree it's not the most complicated of recordings, but it has a beautiful atmosphere and the instruments are well recorded.

WFD and the SVV are two of the few Evans' recordings that does justice to the sound of his piano. His piano often sounds mechanical and hard on other recordings.

I don't have it on Lp, I have the 2012 UK Notnowmusic double CD ( coupled with explorations). It has excellent sound for a CD. The music is not as complex as Abraxas.
