I seriously doubt Chad would ever release a tape that was sourced from a digital master Rob.

How does an digtal transfer to analog sound ? I feel analog tape to dsd is better than the tape in some ways
same with vinyl. One of favs from chad is a hires master to dsd it’s superb in sound. I think being format agnostic has its merits

I have 10 sitting in my shelf right now. Still waiting on the two WIlson tapes (Beethoven/Enescu Violin Sonatas and Winds of War and Peace.) BTW, very glad to see that 8 of the 12 releases were classical! Hope this continues. All eight of the classical releases are TAS Superdiscs.

I know Acoustic Sounds did reissues of all the classical records on vinyl from the original master tapes. So they had the physical tapes to make their running masters for tape duplication. I am guessing the same for the four non-classical releases.

For the famed Decca produced and engineered RCA's - "Witches Brew", "Royal Ballet", etc. It looks like Chad has only reissued titles which were first reissued by Classic Records, which IIRC Chad bought. Those recordings were licensed to RCA for a 10 year period and then the license reverted back to Decca (who under their Universal Music corporation own the tapes which are in Germany.) This means the master tapes are not as easy to get to make running masters for tape duplication. Hope they can do it.

The one exception to the Decca engineered RCA's was a series that RCA did for Reader's Digest, the majority produced by Charles Gerhardt. This included the Power of the Orchestra, which was released by RCA, not Readers Digest. Decca's Kenneth Wilkinson was the engineer. RCA kept ownership of the tapes and so they were available to Chad for reissue and for his UltraTape series. They had been previous reissued by Chesky along with several of the great Readers Digest albums and some of the top RCA Living Stereo recordings. There is a wonderful Sibelius Symphony 2 with Barbirolli and Brahms Symphony 4 with Reiner, both with the Royal Philharmonic.

                    Larry
