  • Two New IPI Releases = George Fludas Organ Quartet and Dave Samuels Solo Vibes

Just got this email from Jonathan:

    ”Dear All,

As you know I’ve just finished recording an organ quartet. Today I played the tapes back and they came out beautifully. I really like it. it is very funky and bluesy, which many of you will like. I find it very engaging. And I’m not used to hearing an organ recorded and played back right off tape. Great presence.

The drum sound is stunning as is the organ. A really fine organ player who avoids many cliches yet still gets a bluesy organ sound. Just love the overall texture given by the organ and the guitar (which has its own reverb supplied through its amplifier). Further, the tonality of the tenor player is second to none. He uses an old old Selmer tenor sax and it has this gorgeous burnished tone. Overall this is a gem. If you like organ you’ll love this.

Accompanying the above newly recorded release is a true gem I recorded many years ago of solo vibes by Dave Samuels. His playing is as good as anybody who ever played the instrument. I mean that. I’ve always felt that way. He just isn’t as famous as some vibes players. But he is easily their equal. And the sound on this tape is just as natural as can be, recorded with only two omni directional microphones. I love the sound and I can’t say enough about the playing here. Just listen to the first tune on the reel and you’ll know you’re in the presence of a master. I’ve considered this one of my hidden gems and looked forward to the day I released it.

Cost is $150.00 for a direct copy of the organ quartet — George Fludas Organ Quartet— and $125.00 for the Dave Samuels Solo Vibes (a steal). Both these prices are for this sale only.

Add $20.00 shipping and Paypal for U.S. customers and $65.00 for European countries and $80.00 for Asia. If any questions on shipping cost ask away.

I will begin shipping on Friday and in the order I receive your request and payment. I would not miss these tapes.

Please ask me any questions you may have.

And thank you all for your support

    Jonathan

Please note that crossed pair of mics in the first picture above (Neumann 254s) are superb on strings but here I used them on organ. I love the result. And the last picture just above shows the back of the organ's speaker where it sounded better to me than the front.
