You can't go wrong with the Yarlung tapes. Yarlung's catalog consists basically of mostly superbly recorded small scale classical music and jazz combos. What sets Yarlung Recordings (and owner Bob Attiyeh) apart from other labels is their avoiding recording just old war horses. Like Mercury and Nonesuch Records of yore, Yarlung Records goes out on a limb and records many new artists and modern compositions. Even some offbeat recordings such as the two Smoke and Mirrors tapes. All in glorious sound! Yarlung tapes are known for among their many qualities, their transparency, tonality and ability to capture the lowest octaves! Each release consists of one reel filled with 30 minutes of music (selections from the LP, CD or digital file).
