      • I think this may be out as a new release:

Vladimir Lamm uses this music for demonstration at shows. I've had it on CD for a while and always wanted it as a vinyl record. I don't think I have anything from Fone; let me know if you're familiar with the quality from this label.

A soprano and a double bass - offering covers of popular songs sung in English and Italian. Singer Magoni can take it to the ether and stay there. The music is somewhat sparse and, given the instrumentation, the mix of tonalities is one I daresay most of us don't hear everyday. It's petty cool, jazzy, and very dynamic - it grows on you over time.

It seems so. On his own forum he has only made mention of AF CD releases he's working on.

      • Just don't understand why is being done half speed at Abbey Road??? All these old and new half speed reissues sound weird to me.

Because done by Audio Nautes in Italy. Did David send the master tape to the U.K.?

      • Such a great soundtrack. Not on an audiophile label, though it is on 2 LPs, so there is hope! they didn't try to jam the musical score on one lp. Some of these tracks on the soundtrack are excellent to test the balance of your system.

      • Seen at Acoustic Sounds:

Leonard Bernstein - Mahler: Bernstein Conducts Mahler-The Vinyl Edition

        (15 LP + Download Code)

        $270

"Sony Classical is now releasing Bernstein's legendary recordings of the complete Mahler Symphonies with the New York Philharmonic and the London Symphony Orchestra (plus the Kindertotenlieder with Jennie Tourel and Janet Baker) on LP, the format these recordings were made for, on 180-gram audiophile vinyl. The set comes with the original facsimile sleeves and labels and the original liner notes plus an essay by the famous German writer on music, Klaus Geitel."

It used to be Mahler sets on LP were rare. Nowadays there's: San Fran Symphony, Bernstein set on Analogphonic, Bernstein set from Sony. At least the per LP cost is reasonable. I wish for the Analog Productions treatment.

If any body purchases this set, I'd like an idea of the pressing quality. As I live so far away, it's a no go to return anything if it's not up to standard..
Sonics would be good as well.
          Really like my Mahler.

Me too kensell21. The Bernstein set on Analogphonic (DG label) was a dissapointment because of the noisey vinyl. The actual remastering was good, but overall quality was not. I tried 4 copies of the Resurrection Symphony (#2) to no avail. I contacted Analogphonic and they 'so sorry' but of no help. It would be great to have a nice edition of this set.

If you like Mahler, you may like the thread I started here: https://www.audioaficionado.org/showthread.php?t=13939

            • this is a great record never released on vinyl, I didn't think it was analog I always assumed it was a hi-res digital recording. nevertheless its authentic, Rosa Passos is the real deal and leaves Ana Caram in the dust. a must have for fans of Brazilian music.

It was previously released on vinyl and it is digital. I use "Insensatez" as a test for analog set up. IMO, the digital is far better sounding than the vinyl.

Good question and no info on who mastered the disc. But being that the RCA tapes are owned by Sony and Sony doesn't let their tapes out of their sight errrr....NYC, either AF mastered the release in NY or took a safety and mastered it out West.
