Finally played mine. Nice indeed. Just come back from a cruise. Lucky enough to visit Pompeii.
A friend has live from Gdańsk. Interesting to know how they compare sonically

Gdansk is incredible, and if they could get close they would be doing well. I have it on CD only, I missed out when released on LP, now they run £500 mint. Pompei though is excellent, really fantastic performance throughout. Only gripe is the miking on David's Gibson acoustic on Wish you were here, not sure why but it's too close and very harsh, but the rest is great. BBC showed an hour of the show this past weekend, highly recomend the DVD too..
              Hope you enjoyed Pompei Kensell21..

          • Chad announced this redo on his website last night. this is arguably the greatest of all reference recordings by KOJ (unfortunately I missed the tape project 15ips release). it was a double LP and OOP copies are now ~300ish. The redo is a single (where did the music go?) the bigger question is if its cut from a hires file or the actual analog tape. except for some SS-like dryness the sonics are off the charts great - esp parts with double/triple fortissimos.

Spoke to Chad about the Lyritas. There's a good chance he will do SRCS 109. One problem though. Chad thought they had a deal months ago and now they're not returning his calls. Such is the life of reissuing records.

Exactly my thoughts but would guess it will be a digital copy taken from the master tape.

I know I’m in the minority here but was never crazy about the original RR release. Always had amorphous, ill defined imaging and a washed out quality to me. The 15 ips tape is everything the LP isn’t.

She clearly was born to play the cello,' wrote the New York Times of Jacqueline du Pré in 1967. Just five years later her career was cut tragically short by illness. Providing a treasurable memento of her art, this is a newly-assembled 5 LP collection of masterworks for cello and orchestra from three centuries. It includes the Elgar Concerto, so closely associated with du Pré, and a 1968 recording of Strauss’s Don Quixote which, after a complex genesis, was not released until 1995, the height of the CD era. Now, it makes its first appearance on LP. In each work, the cellist provides evidence of what her teacher, William Pleeth, described as the 'perfect balance of youth and maturity.'

Unreleased Live 1974 Performance! 180g Vinyl LP! Extraordinary!

Beginning March 22, 1974, Three Blind Mice hosted a special "5 Days In Jazz" at Nihon Toshi Center Hall. The live jazz performances were spread across five days and all of them were recorded. The performance for "The Boss" by Seichi Nakamura Quintet +2 was recorded March 23, 1974.

During the New Year 2014 holiday, when Tee Fujii producer of TBM Records was tidying up the stock room, he found three analog tapes in a sealed box on the shelf. When he opened the box, he found the master tapes inside - 2-track 15"/sec original tapes for "The Boss" performance. The 1974 live performance had never been released. As you listen, the quality of their performance is extraordinary and unique.

            Features:

To buy or not to buy? That is the question. I have the original release, the ARS reissue and Chad's recent reissue. Do I want the soon to be released 45 rpm reissue???? Time will tell.

I don’t have any copies so I’m assuming this could be the definitive one for me. But it might have to go into the queue that is my latest Wishlist...

            • Have several copies of the Belafonte too but will probably break down and buy the 45 rpm of this due for release in February.

I know the feeling but you don't want to be the one that misses out on the "best version ever" if that comes to pass. I stopped listening to this record so I can savor it in the year 2020 or thereabouts. in my book, there is such a thing as over playing a record.

This may have two cuts never ever released before. But not the Eleanor Roosevelt/Belafonte introduction. The concert was actually held to raise money for a NY school.

            • Second set of 25 RCAs to be released.
