  • Pink Floyd catalog will start to be reissued on June 3, 2016

    As per http://www.rollingstone.com/music/ne...paign-20160506

Lots of questions obviously remain as to sources and production, but I personally doubt these are going to be fully analogue. I truly hope I am wrong though.

There goes my record budget for 2016...If they are AAA and done right, this is too good to be true.

Personally I think these won't be AAA and instead be digitally processed. If they were they would emphasize that fact. JMHO.

I think you can be certain they are cut from 24/192 PCM files.

whats going on in the industry? If it says remastered from the original analog master tapes, shouldnt that mean AAA? if not its a scam.

While they say they are reproducing the covers faithfully, will the labels also be? Especially since these are being put out by "Pink Floyd " records?

Looks like Piper, Saucerful and More will, but not Ummagumma for some reason.

Is this the first time the early Floyd albums have gotten the remastered 180g treatment?

I agree JC! It's totally misleading and the average person won't realize that hype sticker isn't worth the paper it's printed on. That's why Chad started putting those new stickers on his albums. You can be sure of the chain of custody of his reissues.

That's code speak for hi-Rez digital files made from analog tape and then remastered in the digital domain before cutting a laquer. I just got sucked into the Black Sabbath album remastered reissues.

Remember when CDs came out, there was a need for and and an establishment of the SPARS code so you knew how the CD was recorded, mixed, and mastered (DDD for example). WE NEED THE SAME THING FOR ALL NEW LPS. ( AAA for example would be nice).

On second thought, I don't think we will get a SPARS like code for LPs (see post #13) because the industry 1. wants to continue using digital files to master LPs, and 2. Doesn't want to disclose it on the product because it will hurt sales. The industry will fight labeling of the product for truth, tooth and nail. IMHO.
