  • Pink Floyd - Obscured by Clouds

I've been revisiting all of the pre-DSOTM albums lately and this one strikes me as being the most diverse and interesting of them all. I'm not saying it's the best of them as I consider Meddle to be absolutely brilliant, but I've gained a better appreciation for it.

Songs like "Wot's...Uh The Deal" (gorgeous), "The Gold It's In The..." (the most unlike PF song ever), "Free Four" (somewhat Beatlesque) add diversity and make this perhaps the most untraditional PF album they created.

My Canadian pressing is nice, but I'm sure there are better pressings out there...so I'll be looking for one!

I'm sure it will be part of the new PF vinyl reissue program. You could wait for that to come out or pay thru the nose for a mint orig uk LP copy. I don't have a vinyl copy, just a mid 90's remastered CD, but I don't know where I filed it.

I'm going to hold off on the new reissues that were announced as I'm sure there'll be digital processing involved. If I can find an original UK pressing at a decent price I'll opt for it, but we'll see. Just as an FYI..I'm not dissatisfied with my original CAN pressing.

What is your opinion of the other PF soundtrack, "MORE"?

Yes, there's a good chance the new PF LP reissues will be cut from digital, but since the hype stickers say mastered from the original analog tapes, there's still an outside chance that they will be all analog pressings, however slim.

Too funny a coincidence - Was just listening to the album just as I opened this thread - and just listened to "Wot's...Uh" . Totally agree with your assessment.

Not a fan. It's not that the compositions are bad...I just can't really get into.
