  • If I ROBOT can be reissued as a 45RPM why not......

....Supertramp - Crime of the Century?

    Side A - 10:01
    Side B - 13:32
    Side C - 10:51
    Side D - 09:31

From a pure listening experience perspective it may not be the best option, but the possibility of improved sonics has me kind of drooling.

Good question and have no answer. Will email Chad or Jim/Bes and see what they say.

Is there anything wrong with the original pressings of I Robot or Crime of the Century? Mine sound excellent, so a new 45rpm pressing does not really interest me.

Personally I prefer to buy new release vinyl or re-issues of albums that I own that don't sound that good.

There is nothing particularly wrong with the standard releases and for most people that's good enough. I'm somewhat of a superfan of these albums and have several reissues of each. In both cases I have reissues that trump the original and I'd like to see how far they can take them with a 45RPM. I suppose that's part of the collector in me. There are very few albums I do this with, but these are ones that are in my Top 5 and I enjoy having the different variations.

              Hey Johnny

not meant to be a comment on you personally, just more a general comment. If they are two of your fav albums - why the hell not.

Its just for me, I have bought a few 45rpm 2LP versions of single albums and i don't really play them too much. PITA getting up every 10 minutes

              cheers

I was hesitant at first about 45rpm and the short sides as I felt it would take away from the flow of the music, and yeah...it's a bit of a pain getting up after 2, maybe 3 songs. But based on the few that I have, the sonics are well worth it. Now, I'll never be a collector of 45rpm's, but faves such as COTC, where it's entirely possible to split the album properly, are in my sight and I look forward to a potential release.
